1750 Hz tone generator module
In german amateur radio usually only Tone I (1750 Hz) was used to activate relay stations.
A continuous transfer of these relay stations is usually not permitted. Therefore the transmitter of the relay station has to be turned on before the actual transmission of the amateur radio operator, which is referred to as Selective Calling or Tone Burst. For this purpose the so-called Tone Burst is sent at a frequency of 1750 Hz, which causes the control logic of the relay station to activate the transmitter.
The Tone Burst serves mainly as a prevention against unwanted opening of a relay by radio interference. Therefore the 1750 Hz Tone is essential for connections in radio communication on HF, VHF, UHF, etc..
The small dimensions of the module allow the direct installation into a hand-held microphone.
